Letter to Self
May 11, 2013
Dear Future Winston,
I know that you are just coming back from summer break and have likely temporarily forgotten pretty much everything you learned last year but hopefully this will help you. Last year in Leadership 1016 was awesome. The amount of knowledge you gained in that class was incredible. You came into the class unaware about what you learned but what you ended up with was amazing. You learned how to curve your perception on things in a more positive way by incorporating different psychological perspectives. You learned that purpose serves more as a motivator than money. You even learned that people buy the “why,” not the “what” or “how.” You engaged in many activities such as the common ground activities in which you learned a lot about the people in your class and put to rest many prior judgments you made about them. You became a better and more aware listener after taking part in the listening activity that involved listening to someone’s personal stories. You became great friends with the people that were put into your family and I hope you try to hang out with many of them next year. They were, for the most part really cool and you would love to spend time with them, trust me. Overall, you learned a great amount last semester and will hopefully keep many of this information with you as you go through your next three years in college. Have fun but not too much as academics should always remain your top priority. Love you future self!
Love,
Past Winston
